MEET OUR SUPPORT TEAM AT ESSENTRA
John Boben, President of Essentra Pipe Protection technologies, brings years of knowledge, experience, and leadership to the team. John earned his B.A. and his M.B.A from Our Lady of the Lake University-San Antonio. With nearly four decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, including various management positions with Spang and Company, Reed Tubular, Baker Hughes, and ICO Oilfield Services, John Boben has led the team at Essentra (formerly known as MSI) since 1994. In addition to leading the headquartered team in Houston, TX, John also oversees our other manufacturing and distribution teams in Aberdeen, Scotland; Leduc, Canada; and Veracruz Mexico.
Jay Brookman serves as the General Manager of the facility in Leduc, Alberta, Canada site. He joined Essentra in 2002 as the General Manager of the Essentra Components division in Edmonton, then later transitioned to the Pipe Protection Technologies division in 2005. As a marketing graduate for Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Jay has a strong professional sales and operations background. His career highlights include playing a key role in business development for all major Canadian sales accounts, completing the Essentra Management Development Program, and serving as the Project Lead for consolidating two Essentra locations into one new Leduc site, which opened December 2014.
Quality Assurance Manager
Adrian Cazares joined the Houston team in 2012 as our Quality and HSE Manager, helping to implement and certify the management system to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 for both Houston and Veracruz. In addition to earning his B.S. and M.S. from Texas A&M Kingsville, Adrian has pursued relevant continuous education, earning his Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, certification as a Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, and an ASQ Certified Engineer. Before his career at Essentra, Adrian worked for companies such as National Oilwell Varco, Parker PGI, and Littelfuse in various capacities including Quality Management, Manufacturing Engineering, and Product Engineering.
Human Resources Manager
Daniella joined Essentra in 2017, as the Human Resources Manager for all of Pipe Protection Technologies. Based in Houston, Daniella has been instrumental to several HR improvements within the company in areas including, training and foreign labor laws. She holds an M.B.A. in Human Resources and has held various HR roles within companies such as Progressive and Lowe’s Home Improvement.
Production Control Manager
Ben Hamman has been with the Essentra organization since 2002, serving in multiple offices and divisions including Erie, Chicago, and now Houston. He holds a B.S. in Marketing and Management from Gannon University and is experienced and knowledgeable in the areas of customer service, secondary operations, and data management. Ben has played key roles in ERP implementations and upgrades and has been instrumental in system-specific add-on implementations. His various roles across multiple divisions and processes have helped to equip him for the role he has now, ensuring that all processes flow seamlessly.
Vice President of Global Business Development
Mauro has been with the Essentra team since 2001. During that time, he began with us as the General Manager of the facility in Veracruz, Mexico. In 2009, he moved to the headquarters located in Houston, TX. Mauro has held various roles with Essentra, but most recently, he serves as the Vice President of Global Business Development. He holds an MBA and degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and has extensive manufacturing and sales knowledge.
Director of Finance
Kevin has been with Essentra since 2012 when he joined as a Senior Financial Analyst. After a brief period as a Senior Finance Manager with Intertek, Kevin returned to Essentra as the Director of Finance for Pipe Protection Technologies. He previously earned a B.A. from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics and an M.B.A. from Rice University.
Vice President of Technical Services
Gary holds over 39 years of injection molding experience across various roles and capacities. His technical career in plastics began at Textek Plastics in 1979, where he began as a Maintenance Technician. After earning recognition with projects including the design and build of specialized automated assembly machines, robotic operations, and a new facility design, Gary began at Essentra’s Houston office (MSI) in 1994 as a Plant Engineer. Today, as the Vice President of Technical services, Gary oversees and assists with many of the project types and roles that he previously held, in addition to managing a team.
Steve has been with the Essentra team in Aberdeen, Scotland since 2000 where he began as a Production Supervisor/CNC Programmer. In 2005, Steve became Production Manager and later, in 2014 he accepted the role of Operations Manager where he is now focused on all aspects of the Pipe Protection Technologies business for his region. Steve also brings industry experience and perspective from the time he spent with Santa Fe Techserve as part of their drilling team, operating in the North Sea sector.
Product and Marketing Manager
Erin joined Pipe Protection Technologies in 2007 as an Administrative Assistant and has since held multiple roles in areas of customer service including Customer Service Manager. Since 2017, Erin has been serving in the role of Product Manager, adding new products and features to the Pipe Protection portfolio and developing a more in-depth product taxonomy. Complimentary to this is the role of Marketing Manager where Erin manages various campaigns from publication ads to social media campaigns and internal newsletters. Erin holds a B.S. from Dallas Baptist University and has since continued education in various courses from Six Sigma and ISO Internal Auditor Certification to various marketing and product management courses.
Customer Service Manager
Julia joined the Essentra Houston team in early 2013 after earning her B.S. from Sam Houston State University. Having previously worked with companies such as Red Bull and The Exchange Property Management, she brings notable experience in customer relations and business development. Julia has served in her current role since 2017, where she manages a team of customer service and inside sales roles. She has played a critical part in implementing department advancements and communication methods.
General Operations Manager
Beginning his injection molding career with Essentra’s Houston office in 1990, Ryan has had the opportunity to grow and develop his skill set in multiple production related roles. In addition to hands-on work over the years, he has been able to build key production teams, gain extensive market product knowledge, and consistently focus on the latest processing methodology. Ryan’s extensive knowledge of injection grade materials, injection molding machinery, and his successful ability to lead a large team made him a perfect fit to lead our US production teams.
